What an amazing birthday party! As part of NS Polish Heritage Month, we held a special after-school event in Glace Bay. We celebrated the 550th birthday of the great Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus! We had all kinds of astronomy crafts, solar system models, and a trivia contest about Copernicus. We made birthday hats and birthday cards, played chess, coloured solar-system sketches and checked out a pop-up science library and mini-exhibit on the life and times of Copernicus (with thanks to our Polonia colleagues in Windsor, Ont., for sharing their exhibit)! And, of course, we shared a solar system cake! Attendance was great! Thanks, everyone, for such an enjoyable time. Thank you to Warden United Church and to the Glace Bay Library and CBU Tompkins Institute and CBU students for their assistance. #WitamyNS
